Literally every time I register for an academic conference I have to email the organisers to request that the 'title' field of the registration form doesn't force women to declare their marital status, or non-binary people to pick a gender.

One of these photos is a screencap from FarCry. The other is a photograph from the island I'm at. Okay its easy to tell the difference but its also impressive how similar they are.

In capitalism, man exploits man. In socialism, it's the other way around.
However, it is exactly the element of truthfulness in Christian doctrine that is its undoing: in its drive towards truth, Christianity eventually finds itself to be a construct, which leads to its own dissolution. It is therefore that Nietzsche states that we have outgrown Christianity "not because we lived too far from it, rather because we lived too close"

Being an open-source maintainer is really hard. A lot of people tend to act very entitled towards you, as if you "owe" them your time or your attention.
It's totally illogical: you put something out there for free, and now because of that, folks feel like they deserve more of it! And yet this is often the prevailing mood in OSS communities.
At the same time, you may start to believe this logic yourself, leading to "open-source guilt." This often ends in burnout.
@CobaltVelvet Are you sure you aren't overreacting here? We don't declare the concept of encryption dead every time someone breaks an algorithm
Important update
To fight Centralization:
- Own your data.
- Archive your data online and off.
- Use decentralized services like Mastodon and Matrix and whatever whenever possible.
- publish to places that aren't facebook or medium (and if you must, only use central services for syndication.)
To fight user hostility:
- Use ad blockers and privacy badger
- If you can get away with it, use no-script or similar when possible.
- Stop using, or reduce your use of, platforms that profit from treating you poorly.
May I draw your attention to this hilarious example of fooling an image recognition algorithm with a small patch of carefully engineered noise?
