Part of the comms room earlier at work - normally out of bounds to many people. The equipment on the wall distributes UHF TV and satellite signals to sets in the lounges/patients rooms.

The PC is used for various things including programming NFC keys for the smartdoors, I put the fishing cat on the wallpaper after I had to heck the database for these to add an extra admin user to it as the original resellers didn't tell us the admin password then walked away from supporting it..

Alas, the cheapest professional grade DVB-T modulators are about €200, or I could use the decomissioned XP machines (reformatted with Linux) to deliver info graphics and even short videos across the building 😉

I tried it with an analogue modulator and it works but not very good resolution and I need to get the levels exactly right to avoid causing interference to other TV signals (or backfeeding the antenna, which Ofcom don't like!)

@vfrmedia @Bobo_PK @er1n @lottie @cypnk wasn't there a hack presented at the chaos communications congress to convert a casual dvbt stick into a broadcasting device? Few years ago.

I thought it was a graphics card (my friends in Scotland did the same with one), but because of where I work I must do things "the legit way" (at least I do have the correct test equipment).

There really isn't as much space on UHF TV band as there once was, as so much is reallocated to LTE mobiles in Europe (also I must be careful about 868 MHz healthcare alarms that are sometimes used there)
