Current build results in an apk 5MB larger than Tusky 19.0. But the diff does not show where those 5MB went to 😭

Ok next time I should google first before whining on fedi. Apparently this is expected when increasing the min supported SDK version to 23 and actually saves size.

And that diff view is probably broken or mixing up download and actual size so it does not show this.

So you know how/why play store downloads don't increase in size? Do they have an additional transport compression?

If I'd have to guess, I'd say F-Droid doesn't currently have that. But I'm not entirely sure. 🤔

@Bubu yes they have an additional compression and also they use bundles instead of apks which makes their downloads even smaller.

@charlag see my other post. It is actually the native libs that are no longer compressed which saves size on the device because they aren't there twice (compressed + uncompressed). Download size, at least from Google Play, stays the same.
