My users are notified and crontab will shutdown my #jabber server on 2018-07-25.
It hasn't been used a lot the last year, all of the users are on Signal and all of my contacts. I haven't got any new contacts in ~2 years.
Sad to say, but jabber is not the future.
@Shufei Wire isn't on the f-droid store, that's why I don't use it. Telegram and Signal is what all of them use, so I haven't lost any contacts.
@Shufei But: If it gets more popular in the future, I can install a new server in less than five minutes on my new server. :)

I’d heard they were opening Wire to federation, so, is this a go now?
@Shufei Not until it is possible to build the client from source without using binaries.
@Shufei Currently, I'm happy with Signal. They're thinking about federation.
