Tips for Americans trying to use the internet
1) If something is "national", you need to specify it is the _American_ national thing. Other countries have their own national things.
2) If talking about states, you need to specify it is _American_ states. Other countries have their own states, and they don't care or know about yours.
3) Same for "the government", unless you are talking about all governments in general.
4) The majority of countries in the world are "other countries" and not the US.
Today, I made some small amendmends to the software that powers my master's thesis, which allowed me to actually record a video of what's happening in the cellular automaton in every simulation step. (5x5 for testing, but still.) It feels so much more real now that I can watch the monomers jump around.

Also, why do I have a terminal window open which reads "ssh " after the prompt? Where did I want to SSH to? What distracted me?
This is the computer equivalent of going into a room and then forgetting what we want. Except I even forget which room I wanted to go to.
The more I have no idea what I'm doing, the more I write comments in my code. I almost feel as if I constantly have to justify what I write.

Nachdem ich von der anderen Firma jetzt eine Woche lang ignoriert wurde, habe ich es gewagt, CDX nochmal anzuschreiben und nach einem Protokoll über die Diagnose zu fragen. Bekam als Antwort eine »kurze Gegenfrage: Meinen Sie, daß Sie dieses - ziemlich ausführliche - Diagnoseprotokoll für umsonst bekommen? Die Kollegen machen sowas im Rahmen von z.B. gerichtlichen Gutachten. Für rund 180 Euro pro Stunde.«

I still use QWERTY as layout for typing – and it bugged me that the key above the tab key isn't mapped to `, as one would expect, like on US keyboards, but to §.

Since my old 12" MacBook broke down, I have a new one now, golden and with a QWERTZ keyboard.
CDX hat, wie ich jetzt auf Nachfrage erfahren habe, »das MacBook an eine Firma weitergegeben, daß auf Platinenreparaturen spezialisiert ist - aus dem simplen Grund, daß wir seit Monaten zuviel Arbeit und damit keine Zeit für eine Fehlersuche haben. […] Das MacBook zurückerhalten mit der Info (und nur der Info), daß die Reparatur nicht gelang.«
Können die das einfach machen, mein Laptop weiterschicken, wenn sie mir vorher erzählt haben, alles passiert in-house?
