Criticizing #Medium while the rest of the online media go on spreading contents that are hardly of any value seems to me to be a criticism misplaced.

I agree with Ev Williams (founder of Medium) when he says the following about Google and Facebook:
"If you're selling attention, you're not selling content."

One has to keep in mind that #Medium doen't carry any ads, nor do they have sponsered contents.

The question that remains is, how can writers and bloggers get an economic return on the content they provide without having any ads on the platform?

One solution is to follow a similar path in writing as the ones taken in music (Spotify) and video (Netflix).

I see Medium as providing precisely such a service despite all its problems and shortcomings.

since there are quite a number of negative toots around it.

I personally think #Medium is a fairly decent platform for writers, bloggers, and publishers.

Yes, they do limit access to exclusive contents on their partner program to 3 articles per month, and I can understand that that can annoy many of the readers.

But I still think it is a fair compromise (and one can simply delete browser cookies to bypass the restriction in the last resort).
