Delta Chat is probably the most scalable messenger today.
Even if a billion users migrated to our apps, we would be fine and it wouldn't ruin us. Our Operating Costs hardly increase with more users. A pretty unique strategic economical advantage, isn't it?

@delta like all federated protocol it’s very scalable at app level … the server is an other storie …

@sebseb01 @delta delta uses email: if everyone suddenly started using delta then all email servers would see some increase in load, but there’s no central ”delta server” that would suffer.

@tinyrabbit @delta it’s exactly the same for XMPP or mastodon … it’s a effect of federated protocol not specific to delta …

but it cool

@tinyrabbit @sebseb01 @delta most email is spam by a long long way so I doubt any increase in human use would even register on the graph and would probably be welcomed by your average email sysadmin

Well it's not so unique, is it?

Why should you get in trouble if you make the client, not the infrastructure.

if millions of people switch to SIP-Phoning it doesn't bother #zoiper or #linphone

if billions of people start using mastodon it's no big deal for firefox or tusky (both clients for that network).

If thousands of people migrate to XMPP it's no problem for Gajim or Conversation.

So I'd say: It's not so unique 😛
