Second try at the Andrew Pitt tutorial, this time I took more liberties (also more tubes of better paint have arrived by now). Fairly happy with the result.

At the beginning of 2020 I had just picked up painting with watercolor and started binge-watching videos by James Gurney ( Gurney is very fond of paint, which is somewhat between watercolor paints and acrylic paints. Long story short I ordered some paints - had to sign up for a painting contest because they aren't sold around here - then never really got to use them.

Pulled them up again and tried. Here is the result: Bremen. Great fun .

on paper

Didn't paint in a long time so I am fairly happy my gouache paints are still good.

Painting turned out to be a bit more detailed than what I was aiming for. But still happy

Following a youtube tutorial I arrived at this painting. Fairly happy. This was painted 2 days ago and I even like it better now than on the evening I painted it.

I think my cheap "White NIghts" watercolor set will be retired once I get the missing colors for my Royal Talens watercolors arrive. They just mix to the ugliest colours. Originally I thought I might use them for practice, esp. for colour mixing, but its just daunting with these.

Looking at the result I should start working on tonal values I guess

Managed to get some painting in today for the first time in months probably (1 exception but that one doesn’t count really).

Didn’t want to set the bar too high and opted for some doodling / studies.

First time I tried painting figuratively though so pretty happy

Edit: bildbeschreibung

Worked on my skills and am fairly happy with the results.

Got new (and better quality) paint from and this painting is a study I used to "brush up" on my layering skills.

Perspective is alittle messed up in places but it was definitely not my focus here.

Drawing with soft oil pastels with the kid. It's really fun to draw motives that one could have drawn in elementary school 😊

In case you wondered, this drawing is BY ME and not by my daughter.

– a Fediverse instance for & by the Chaos community
