Pinned toot

Ok, finally, some . Hello everyone.

I'm a scattered identity somewhere between science & technology studies, computer science and education. Also sometimes self-referred to as a free floating trans*disciplinary post-technoscientist.

My interests are tagged in the profile. Currently I spend most of my time with systems & network administration, a bit of workshopping and teaching, organizing feminist tech meetups and events, and trying to finish my ITsec master programme.

Every time I see the Hacker Ethic praised without critically challenging its shortcomings, I have to think of "Programming is Forgetting: Toward a New Hacker Ethic" by Allison Parrish and wish it was more popular. You can read the transcript here opentranscripts.org/transcript

Today the starts, with lots of interesting talks and workshops: pydays.at/schedule

One session will be dedicated to presenting and networking different initiatives that foster diversity in tech: pydays.at/womenintech

Looking forward to seeing lots of folks there.

The whole event is free, so you can join quite sontaneously.

Tools suggested by Alda Vigdís you can also use for accessibility testing:
* the Lighthouse extension for Chrome: bit.ly/lighthouse-quickstart
* accessible-colors.com
* A11ycast on YouTube

Also her slides will be put online at her blog: aldavigdis.wordpress.com

Also quite nice, the intro by Silvio Heinze on how to use Wordpress with Docker. Slides and compose files are at github.com/silvioheinze/wordca

#Wordpress people: does anybody know of a plugin that allows *readers* to change the color scheme of the site? (i.e. not me when I design it; I want two or more separate color schemes and a swap button)

Currently at the WordCamp Vienna. Listening to awesome talk about accessibility in Gutenberg. Any chance anyone else from the Fediverse is here?

I've already spotted @emaryllis and @mundschenk_at here on the instance writing/being mentioned in this context.

Hey all, finally made it to the toots-based fediverse. I hope I'll be a bit more active here then on the ol' proprietary service. But then again, also my attempt back then with diaspora didn't make a big web 2.0 socialite out of me.
