I am #new here so it's #introduction time!
Not sure what to put here, but I do #astrophysics and also #politicaleducation and #activism on the side. I will use this plattform in English and German, although I also know other languages. I love learning and am excited about tons of different topics. I am very #queer, a #jewish #atheist, #vegan, #depressed, and very #political.
Curious to read interesting content, see #memes & #animals and maybe connect with like-minded people :)
Dear trans friends, today I wish that you have exactly the level of visibility that you want and need so that you can be safe, powerful, and bold. #TransDayOfVisiblity

... Was geht denn schon wieder ab?!
Question: backup, windows 10
Is there a way to not copy all the data from my computer on my hard drive for backups but let is scan automatically in each folder what is new or changed and only add that on the drive?
Copying all the data seems inefficient, manually going through each folder is annoying. Is there a way to do it automatically? Or would it do it itself?
While skipping existing files in a folder works, I am not sure if it works with different folders and folders in folders etc.
Might be unable to proceed with my studies for several years and questioning all my life goals and plans but hey at least I have #duolingo
At least one constant and success, yay!
And yes, I am seriously proud of this :P

Today gave me hope:
Lead a workshop with school BIPoC kids that wanted to learn more about #racism. We all had a great connection right away (which is not trivial in a digital format) and I think it #empowered them. And it also empowered me and gave me hope - kids reaching out and wanting to do antiracist work in their school?! And some already read authors like #MaxCzollek that even I found pretty complex?! So impressed! Hopefully they will make this world a better place
❝Since her death in 1979, the woman who discovered what the universe is made of has not so much as received a memorial plaque. Her newspaper obituaries do not mention her greatest discovery. […] Every high school student knows that Isaac Newton discovered gravity, that Charles Darwin discovered evolution, and that Albert Einstein discovered the relativity of time. But when it comes to the composition of our universe, the textbooks simply say that the most abundant atom in the universe is hydrogen. And no one ever wonders how we know.❞ — Jeremy Knowles, discussing the complete lack of recognition Cecilia Payne gets, even today, for her revolutionary discovery. (via alliterate)
OH WAIT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT CECILIA PAYNE
• Cecilia Payne won a scholarship to Cambridge.
• Cecilia Payne completed her studies, but Cambridge wouldn’t give her a degree because she was a woman, so she said to heck with that and moved to the United States to work at Harvard.
• Cecilia Payne was the first person ever to earn a Ph.D. in astronomy from Radcliffe College, with what Otto Strauve called “the most brilliant Ph.D. thesis ever written in astronomy.”
• Not only did Cecilia Payne discover what the universe is made of, she also discovered what the sun is made of (Henry Norris Russell, a fellow astronomer, is usually given credit for discovering that the sun’s composition is different from the Earth’s, but he came to his conclusions four years later than Payne — after telling her not to publish).
• Cecilia Payne is the reason we know basically anything about variable stars (stars whose brightness as seen from earth fluctuates). Literally every other study on variable stars is based on her work.
• Cecilia Payne was the first woman to be promoted to full professor from within Harvard and the first woman to head a science department at Harvard. She also inspired entire generations of women to take up science.
• Cecilia Payne is awesome and everyone should know her.
remembrance racist terror in hanau
At this day (19.02) a year ago, in #Hanau, a racist domestic terrorist attack killed
Said Nesar Hashemi
Vili Viorel Păun
Racist Violence, and Racist motivated terror attacks are nothing exceptional. This violence is systemic and it needs to stop.
Watching the #CountdownToMars and the #landing on #mars by #Perserverance was so amazing! Can't wait to be done with all the stupid exams that are the only things standing between me and all the cool #science and astrophysics stuff that I can do afterwards! Hope to one day also be part of some awesome project like that!
A super obviously and openly antisemitic flyer gets distributed in public transportation. A jew finds it, is shocked, and twitters about it.
Instead of doing something about the flyer and where it came from, now that jew has to face legal consequences. WTF?! How can this actually go like this?! It feels like a stupid satircal joke or something or a really bad movie. How can this be reality? This really hurts. How can so many people accept this and not care?
Productivity, mental health, good mood, capitalism
... and all that despite my deep political/moral beliefs that totally contradict such a connection
Productivity, mental health, good mood, capitalism
This morning I woke up hours before my alarm would go off. I was in good mood, got up and started doing things.
I lately feel #happy/"normal" and am super productive - after years of #depression hindering that, this is really cool!
On the other hand, it is scary to observe how #productivity is the reason for my contentment and how I connect my feeling of #selfworth to it.
#internalized #capitalism I guess...
Any #advice on handling this dilemma?
