Background: These columns – 14 in total – were ordered in the late 1930s by German architects for a planned Mussolini (!) monument in Berlin. But due to the war, these plans came to a halt and the columns were never picked up. In the end, the company that made them decided to buy them back and erect them near its headquarters.
