I woke up early and went to Lake Shikotsu. My destination was the oddly shaped mountain on the left side of the third picture.

Since the road is closed in winter, I parked my car by the lake and walked to the lodge, six kilometers away.
I put on crampons and headed up the mountain. I hiked up to the flat area above and saw the characteristic dome-shaped lava rocks of this mountain.
