It's interesting that the external 5TB 2.5" Seagate HDDs *still* come out cheapest when buying hard drives. You just gotta remove the case and you have some really nice SMR HDDs.

@ln I had some bad luck with that a few years ago because they got rid of the sata -> usb adapter in the case and the drives just had usb controllers onboard.

@adasauce lol, i'm impressed, they must have saved like 50c per disk and made datahoarder's lifes miserable for it.
