I just modelled and simulated a part of my couch in solidworks to fix where it broke. And it's also really clear now why it failed: it had a wood-joint with shitty glue right where the most amount of stress happens. Oh and for good measure it's pressing with a lever against the other side of the joint when you sit on it.

On the upside, now I have a reason to order a nice laser-cut metal part for it :D
