i'm playing BOM whack-a-mole here and all because I thought "oh this extremely common part won't just disappear completely before i've finalised my board"
@steph i mean, even some common stuff on jlc smt ran out while i was designing stuff... i started, designed and completely shelved a project in two days because a few k chips first went poof, then came back at 5x the price. like, those were some GD32 parts which would take a lot of effort to switch an existing design too even.
@ln I'm so glad I'm just dealing with sheet metal and stuff at work because I can see how much of a pain this is for the electronics engineers
@gbrnt can't even change careers and do something with wood because prices there went up a lot too, lol
@ln Maybe you should do something to do with closed venues. I heard there are plenty of them around.
@ln I recently returned to embedded systems design and hardware engineering after an absence of about 7 years and its worrying how many formerly common components have simply disappeared, or have become a lot harder to get even in quantities for prototyping..
@vfrmedia i'm really glad that i have a whole lot of parts here which we use in lots of designs, but it's awful right now for designing something new (or with an stm32)
