felt cute, might paste boards later (when the solder paste has warmed up a bit)

naked electronics

and here's the boards

it was made in a bit of a rush so i unfortunately forgot to put on some silly silkscreen...

protip: get one of those solder paste squeegees from aliexpress. this is my first try and it's perfect (for my standards). it's a world of a difference compared to an old credit/plastic card.

placing is done \o/

will bake now and then test if they spark joy (or smoke)

i love that my last notes on the oven usage guide is "ya fixed it" and two lines of code to paste in the REPL.

because it's been so long since i last used it that i forgot how to use it over the micropython REPL.

boards look fine but i got a short somewhere 🙃 gonna continue tomorrow, on one o need to fix some solder-bridges too.

@ln oh wow. By the way, do you have some kind of fancy stencil holder? I've looked into getting one but they look far too expensive for what they can do

@JennyFluff it's a parametric 3d model @uint8_t made, just needs a board size and a bit of time on a 3d printer :3

@x44203 @ln @uint8_t I usually let manufacturers use screw holes for that in my stencil.

@ln I usually use one of these things. They are sold as "Japanese spatulas" in the hardware store. Works okay. It's a little to flexible side to side, so it tends to bow in the direction you are moving it. Maybe it's time to get the proper tool for the job.

@ln Looks just like the tool you use for screen printing.

@ln is it bad that i recognise this package and what it is

@steph they might have a sales office there, not sure if you'd enjoy being a field apps engineer for them

@uint8_t perhaps field apps would suit em though?

I can imagine what the job would be like but i'd have to know for sure

@ln Is "spark joy" an euphemism for arcing?

@ripper it was an intentional pun, but i hope there's no sparks :D

@ln I wasn't sure but I should have known that. :D

@ln I wish more of my projects were left with documentation on how the environment worked.

I can see myself a month from now trying to figure out what in the heck REPL was called so I can figure out how to figure out how to use it. Especially since I just went through that whole process yesterday >_>

@uint8_t @ln I just realized those tweezers are purple I want them

@maris @ln they look like a bisexual flag after a good amount of blur

lewd, shitpost

@uint8_t @maris @ln I, too, know the technique of squinting so much everyone looks bi.

@ln those look perfect! especially compared to the exacto knife solder paste technique.

@th @ln I never heard of this technique before, and now that I see it, I might know the reason!

@uint8_t @ln it works, in that it produced working boards even with a QFN microcontroller, although this particular design made me yearn for a pick-and-place.
