@nikita Well, German media landscape is certainly dominated by the big corporations, including Springer, Funke, Burda, Bertelsmann, WAZ, and probably they are all entangled, like one holds parts of the shares of the others. Yet, I think Spiegel is not part of that picture. Many formerly independent papers are gone, like good old Frankfurter Rundschau. Nowadays even "competing" Süddeutsche (centre left) and FAZ (centre right) are partly owned by the same folks.

@nikita It must be understood though that today Axel Springer is a huge multi-country publisher, not just Welt and BILD. I recently saw the Politico.eu is financed by A. Springer.
