Ach, »logisch«. Vergesst’s.

“every screwball and crackpot in the country – all the long-haired men and short-haired women”
Ah, yes.
Can’t forget some sexism among all the racism.
😡

Looks like Heinlein cleverly picked the location. Colorado has a very large White majority, that was even bigger in the past.
Still.😡

🤬 🤬
Man, i got caught up badly in the racism of that novel.
So the PanAsians are the evil invaders. So far the racism is clear.
The one Asian-American mentioned is one of the Good Guys™. Well, Heinlein made it hard for him to fight for the other Good Guys™.
But then, the actual Good Guys™ are all “Caucasian”. Where TF ar the African-Americans?
🤬 🤬

But, yeah, Sixth Column is *at its core* deeply racist.
“(N)one but a Caucasian could now pass through (the) door with impunity.”
What a shame that none of the protagonists is Georgian, Armenian, Azeri or the like.

I would actually arrange special language lessons for my Sixth Column: 10 % learning the language, and 90 % learning to act as if yu didn’t understand a word said in yur presence.

Also, nobody of the Sixth Column seems to want to learn the language of the occupiers. That would be useful, but no, Heinlein mocks it instead as “that damned singsong tongue of theirs” or even “meaningless singsong”. Argh! It is a language! It has meaning!

So now the occupiers ar simply “monkey men”. 🤮

Thanks, /ˈkæmbrɪdʒ/ dictionary. That is what i was interested in. Not. 😩

I could rage-toot about every other page of this, i ges.
Now the spy meets an old frend, an American with Chinese, Japanese and “Caucasian”, i.e. European ancestry, and immediately assumes he’d “find it easy to get along with the new regime.” That is exactly the mindset that led to the US internment of Japanese-Americans during the second world war.
