Maybe the paychecks aren't growing because increasingly large part of the value a worker creates gets paid to them in form of public goods: just more and more money gets redistributed for supporting large projects?

And maybe that is not so bad, since the public goods are the transportation and communication infrastructure, socal security, free education and healthcare, fundamental research, etc.?
Sure, the quality of those public services varies from country to country.
