@rixx iirc Firefox can do screenshots and screen records out of the box. No gif stitching though, but I'm not sure of any tool that does that out of the box.
@rixx I know of the ultimate solution but that is not available on your platform of choice. :-/
When in doubt, record full screen and crop afterwards. There must be some primitive video editing software to do that. (Maybe even something a little more visual than ffmpeg(1).)
@MacLemon vokoscreen is really cool and could do everything I wanted to. Produced an mkv or mp4 I think, which was good enough for my purposes, and not as huge as a giv at that scale.
@rixx I'll look at it. Gotta brush up my FOSS application knowledge anyway. :-)
Claquette on macOS is pure magic. Records full screen with all compositing information. Then let's you select a portion of the screen or even a window to export video/agif (and I beliefe apng). Even if that window was obstructed by another one, you get an unobstructed recording. (Like a notification popping up while you record.)
@rixx Mind droppung me that video somewhere? I'd like to see what I can achieve with cimpressiin and even gif export out of curiosity.
