@heurekus Thank you for answering! How about the noise levels? And would you be able to fit a second drive (HDD) inside?
@sandbag_attitude Noise level is very low, almost inaudible, both when the server is mostly idle and running at 100% CPU power. Not sure if a second drive would fit in, I didn't try. Bought the bigger NUC case so a 'normal' 2.5" SATA SSD would fit in.
@heurekus @heurekus thank you this is good to know. In Ubuntu and Intel forums people said that they had to adjust graphics settings (nomodeset) to see the installation GUI and others reported devices getting bricked by incorrect BIOS settings plus overheating up to 90°. Not sure if this only applies to the latest NUCs based on i7.
@sandbag_attitude Never tried graphics as I use the NUC as a headless server. Installed using the text based installer.
@sandbag_attitude I bought a NUC7i3BNH 2 months ago, equipped it with 16 GB RAM and a 512GB Samsung SSD and use it as a VM server with Ubuntu 18.04 as host and client OS. Works flawlessly.
