@trinsec tbh RimWorld has been on my "to play" list for like forever. I love games where I can dig out my home. It has some ... interesting quality of nature which I like.

Is RimWorld multi-layer? So i can build a cellar and stuff? Or is it all in 2D?

@saxnot The game's all in 2D, no multi-layers. For that you'd need to look at Gnomoria though it's kinda abandonware atm. (Fans are trying to recreate that game but I don't know how far that progress is.)

But for a one-layer-game, RimWorld is still surprisingly detailed, and with the right mods it's absolutely fun. :)

@trinsec i played Dungeon Keeper (one layer) and Dwarf Fortress (many layers).

I like both a tremendous lot. DK has really small amount of creatures, very simple lore and not many rooms and gameplay mechanisms.
I guess DF could be considered to be the other extreme (although you build the same few rooms again and again).
I assue RimWorld to be in the middle? Very detailed in terms of items, yet simple in terms of gameplay mechanisms?

@saxnot I wouldn't call RimWorld that simple... There's also buffs and debuffs in mood because of clothes, environment, actions, and even relationships. Some are so absurd that you're going to scream at the monitor. ;)

And some events add some interesting aspects to the game as well. I like to abuse the passing caravan by luring the big predators prowling around to them so they can kill that damn beast for me... and hey, if a caravaneer would die from it, I wouldn't get a penalty and I can loot their dead for the goods! *cough*

RimWorld is closer to DF than to DK. DK was really simple, I did enjoy that way back in the day.

Man. I really want to play RimWorld. Yet my "to play" list advises me to finish HL2 first. And then some Fallout 5. And then some modded Skyrim. By god. I will never ever finish this list.

And my todo list whispers "don't listen to that dude. His items take a lot of time".

@saxnot I can see why you will never finish this list. As far as I'm aware, Fallout 5 doesn't even exist yet. 😂

RimWorld is worth it. Backlog be damned! 😜 If you didn't want backlogs, you shouldn't get RPG games!

@trinsec oh yeah i ment F4 sorry. Played F3 and now I'm playing F4. No progress has been made on that list since February (sad)

@saxnot I've finished F3 too, that was epic. F4 I had to bail out because of 'head bobbing' which made me motion sick. (It made me feel nauseous after long playing).

I've noticed that I actually am loath at starting games which requires a lot of time investment. I've come to favor games with quick matches instead. Mostly card battle games. Though I'm starting to think more and more about playing some RimWorld again but I keep postponing that because it means rechecking all those mods and such... Just too much hassle atm. :P

@trinsec head bobbing & motion blur are just evil. The effects themself are boring and decrease overall visual quality.

Plus i'm pretty sure that head bobbing can be disabled. Maybe mods?

@saxnot When I was playing FO4, there were no mods for that out yet. Only for Skyrim but I never had issues with Skyrim. I've not bothered yet to try to play FO4 again, other games took my attention. Somehow I like the atmosphere of FO3/NV better than FO4 though... FO4 looks too.. mrm... 'clean' in its rendered stuff. Unreal.
