We're happy to finally announce EDeA, a hub to share and integrate your Open Hardware sub-circuits for KiCad: https://blog.edea.dev/introduction/
Stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks!
None of this was obvious by the error message in the official web interface. It just told me to unlock my chosen "TAN mechanism" to continue 😪
However, I'm really happy I can finally implement a proper check for this now and then have working online banking till eternity!
Still a silly and somewhat funny problem I wanted to #share (5/5)
Turns out that my account regularly needs a TAN for login since PSD2 is in place (every 3 months). My script worked perfectly fine when I did this TAN login beforehand over the web interface. Afterwards it worked for 3 months until the next 2FA kicked in. After that each and every login attempt by my script got recorded as "failed login attempt" (credentials where fine, just the TAN was missing) at my bank, resulting in a block for online banking after 9 such failed attempts. (4/5)
I raised exactly this question to the telephone support. Unlocking worked fine all the time, support was always nice and helpful but this annoying unlock process by phone just doesn't scale if you have to do it every 3 months…
After a little back and forth (support told me I should buy a newer chip tan generator - why should I if mine is perfectly working?) I finally understood that "unsuccessful login attempts" really means: "unsuccessful tan attempts". This finally rang a bell (3/x)
every now an then I got asked to provide a tan at login (according to PSD2) on the normal online banking page. However, I got also asked to unlock my tan mechanism (chip) for login by phoning my bank.
The first time this happened it didn't look suspicious to me. The second time (around May, another 3 months later) it annoyed me and the third time I got curious: "Why is my bank not able to remember which tan mechanism is unlocked?!" (2/x)
I have a handy-dandy python script running at home which collects bank transactions. It morphs these objects provided by python-fints (thanks @rami for this awesome lib 🚀) to some mysql schema so I can generate pretty graphs in grafana from my bank statements. All of this happens automatically, triggered by a cron-job every 5 minutes and worked flawless - even with PSD2 in place (1/x)
