ABER SKALIERT DAS DENN AUCH?!
Software only becomes 'enterprise grade' if, when its behavior is described to an outsider flatly and precisely, the outsider assumes the description is some kind of elaborate joke.
unit test _ALL_ the things!
Wer es noch nicht hat, Life is Strange und Before The Storm sind bei Steam gerade günstig zu erhalten. Must have ☝️
Ich stelle fest: auch zum wiederholten male macht es keinen Spaß ein 16/4 multicore aus Einzelteilen selber zu löten. Aber zum Glück hatte ich den laptop und eine Serie dabei.
Dang, I don't think I can rely on that radio-temperaturesensor at all. It's been doing some funny things the last two hours, rapidly jumping up 10 degrees celsius.
Oh well, another reason to really make that LoRa station happen
Gee... LoRa WAN sensorbox? @norwin do you guys have any experience with that? If I can design these to be cheap enough (~15-20€) i might just spread out a few in my local area
Ah fuck. I'm not doing myself any favors.
Now I'm seriously considering building an entire small weatherstation from scratch into a small weather resistant case with an ESP, a whole bunch of sensors and Solarcell, hoping to get that thing running autonomously
I'm seeing a bunch of posts today about how hosting a mastodon admin doesn't cost a lot of money, and first I want to say that this is true; you can run an instance on $10-20/mo entirely reasonably.
But I don't want anyone to forget that there is a labor cost in running and maintaining an instance. It's not just pushing a button and feeding in some money, it's also monitoring your server and keeping it secure and handling reports and doing upgrades and all fo that.
Also, practical use case: Scan for RF garbage in unknown concert locations to select RF channels with more confidence. Cool stuff.
I know I'm probably late too the party, but - I can run RTL SDR on my friggin Android Phone! How amazing is that? this will make for a fun activity on the road :) The adapter is tiny, i only need a much more compact antenna and I can have this in my daily carry bag.
So, #teahub seems to be happening, initial discussions are well underway. It's exciting to be right there at the start of something that will hopefully provide a stable and longlasting free/libre service :)

#GitPub is a decentralized federation protocol based on the W3C's #ActivityPub, which extends #ActivityStream 2.0. It provides a server to server API for pull request, forking and subscription of repositories provided by #Git web services (services like #GitHub, #GitLab, #Gogs, #Gitea)... No code yet, but I like the idea! 🙂 https://github.com/git-federation/gitpub
Also, props to the django IRC channel for being really helpful. 💜
