Which one would you use for your home automation CAN bus

What is your preferred way of attaching mass storage?

we would need tooling for 4p2c (rj11) and have everything for 8p8c plus a half spool of Cat5e

@uint8_t brb wiring my whole house automation system purely using Belling-Lee connectors (let's hope I don't plug it into the aerial socket on my tv by mistake)

@eqe @uint8_t kinda cursed. Type2 connector doesn't use CAN but only resistance encoded current limits.

@uint8_t from what I encountered the DB9 is common. Easy to hook up a USB2CAN adapter for debugging the bus.

@uint8_t what about XLR? Or Schuko, except cables have plugs on both ends. 😬

@uint8_t 8p8c/RJ45 because the patch panels and cables are so ubiquitous and cheap. I crimp those on a lot of different cables (this week I made myself a MIDI extension cord that way).

CANL/CANH should be one of the pairs, crimp shield on one of of the spare pins, but be consistent.

Use pachpanels with the wires crossing many sockets as a bus/splitter/...

@uint8_t @maris There is a box of USB to Gardena connectors at metalab. I think they can emulate mass storage for pulsing water.

@uint8_t @maris We'll probably need to terminate the pipes. What's the equivalent of impedance in pipes? Dynamic viscosity? If so, a 50 Pa·s termination will be required at the ultrasound receiver.
(Unfortunately for me, nerd sniping does backfire.)

@uint8_t NBD over USB over WiFI has to be my favorite, but DSL over wet shoestring comes close
