gotta be honest, an alternate universe where microsoft doesn't dominate the desktop market sounds good, but the last part about winapi otherwise becoming an open standard makes me think that might actually be a _worse_ timeline. →

@uint8_t i guess, but if there were instead tons of operating systems all supporting winapi, software developers would just use winapi everywhere.

it would basically turn into the same situation as what we have today with electron.
