In #homeoffice, no one can hear you typing. #mechanicalkeyboard #covid19 #quarantine #selfisolation #alien (SCNR)
Solution (from https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/a/121564): /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/name is indeed a short variant of the model name (albeit not easy to correlate) and oemid and manid contain the brand and manufacturer.
0x5344 in ASCII is "SD" and stands for SanDisk. Source: https://www.cameramemoryspeed.com/sd-memory-card-faq/reading-sd-card-cid-serial-psn-internal-numbers/
How do I figure out the brand and type of an SD-card in a #RaspberryPi on the commandline (i.e. remotely via SSH)? fdisk, lshw and friends didn't help.
Closest I came was "cat /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/name". But SU04G, SS08G, ACLCE and SL16G don't say much to me (yeah, size hints—sometimes) and /sys/block/mmcblk0/device/oemid is always 0x5344 for those 4 examples.
And this is the second #mechanicalkeyboard kit I soldered this weekend. It's a #Tex #Shinobi #DIY kit modeled after the Thinkpad X220 keyboard. It now sports #Millmax #hotswap sockets and #Zealios v2 67g #switches. I might change that to #Zilents if I'll take into the office—once I'll move back there from homeoffice.
The #keycaps are Tex #ADA keycaps and came with this keyboard as it requires key cap sizes smaller than the common key cap size. IIRC the F-row and cursor keys are 0.87u keycaps.
Nice weather today. First time this year soldering because I can do it with open windows again without freezing. :-) Soldering a #Shambles #mechanicalkeyboard from #WorldspawnsKeebs, probably the smallest #TKL in the world: https://www.etsy.com/de/listing/855710707/shambles-acryl-gehause
A friend asked me how to automatically start #GNU #Screen directly via #SSH's configuration file. Here's how to do it:
Add an entry to ~/.ssh/config similar to this one:
Host screen_on_server
Hostname server.example.org
RequestTTY yes
RemoteCommand screen -RD
and then just call
$ ssh screen_on_server
and you'll get connected to an existing screen session if present, otherwise you'll a new new one.
Should work with #tmux, too, maybe different options.
Please remember: functional cookies (login session, shopping carts) do not need user consent. So every time you see one of this oversized cookie banners someone is trying (often through dark patterns) to make you accept the whole tracking and spying as well. Don't be mad at the legislative for creating the need for tracking consent. Be mad at the websites that are trying to stir you up against that law by annoying you with those banners.
Heard in a YouTube video (https://yewtu.be/2SG9vjlQefA near the end):
»headless unit to run some kind of kiosk mode«
So what now? Headless or kiosk-mode? I just can't imagine what a "headless kiosk-mode" could be. 😀

Good morning, #FOSDEM! 🌨️ At 14:40 UTC+1 today, in the Lightning Talks section, @Bleeptrack@twitter.com and I will talk about why and how we're building an open-source Git learning game! :) https://fosdem.org/2021/schedule/event/git_learning_game/
Please be accurate when putting blame on the shady addition of M$ repo to #RaspberryPi's.
Raspbian(.org) was started by Mike Thompson (long gone) and DD 'plugwash', who is still maintaining the archive which provides most packages for #RPi, after all these years. Plugwash deserves nothing but praise for his monumental work.
The fuck up is all RaspberryPi Foundation's (RPF) 'work' and is in raspberrypi-sys-mods package (post-install script), from the raspberrypi.org repo, and part of RaspiOS.
Idea for a potential #CLI themed #mechanicalkeyboard #keycap set: Labelling the tab key with "DWIM". #tabcompletion
Thought came when doing "serv<Tab>apa<Tab>res<Tab><Enter>" for calling "service apache2 restart"
