i say "nailing" but of course i really mean "getting some things adequate enough, in some sense, for it to have worked out well enough, to my limited ability to judge"

Show thread

also now that i've made some bad/failed cuts, i feel like kindof a badass for nailing my first attempts 😎

food, lettuce garden

shredded some carrots, and threw them with some cheeses, bacon crumbles, and lime vinaigrette on my latest aerogarden harvest and it's made a tasty salad mmm

how the fuck do i get rid of this windowsy fucking "close window" bullshit binding from ctrl-w... i swear i changed that shit in my gtk themes and everywhere before, but it must've changed and gets ignored now, cause it's fucking back, and i get sick of dumbass shit closing when i try to delete a word, ugh

ok, interesting, i cut up a few more jugs today, and a couple times i batted them off with poor edge alignment or insufficient force... and also made several good cuts, and some less good ones. i varied my efforts a bit overall and learned more for it this time.
i also remembered these are meant to thrust as well, and it's scary how effortlessly it stabs through. 😬

ok so i might have a problem, but... i got another sword. 😅
this time a jian, and, as my first actually sharp and wieldy sword, it's the first i've actually tried cutting with, on one of the milk jugs i've been saving up for such... which i think must be too easy of a target! because... aside from one grazing miss before the last cut, every other attempt split it clean and easy, haha.
it was fun, though! i gotta sharpen the first one and see how it does.

ever notice how many origins for ghosts and other supernatural beings in stories are generally, like… all too sadly commonplace in history, and if it really worked like that, the world would be a little too flooded with such ghosts/etc?
can't we have some supernatural origins that are actually interestingly unusual circumstances?

i copy/paste misc randomly encountered youtube urls onto a line that i'll play some time later, and pretty much every day there's at least one that i forget where it came from or what the context was and have no idea wtf's going on

food, gardening

i used my first aerogarden lettuce harvest to make a taco salad for breakfast today! ...it wasn't really enough, especially since the fresh-foods drawer in the fridge i put it in for like 1 day somehow semi-froze some and wilted it a bit, but it was nice to have at all :Þ

internal autobiography with an unreliable narrator

this is actually the default

a universally universal translator absorbs and supersedes all languages and standards.

food

vinegar & salt chips: no actual greasy potato, it's just vinegary chips of salt

tbh, this (and the amoled screen on my handmedown phone, but that's small and awkward to use, and its battery sucks, so i don't much) is the kind of display i've been wanting since getting into computers as a kid in the early 90s

so i don't get the 4k poohers. for me, all the way up to 1080, the size of an element was usually essentially defined by a minimum legible pixel representation. only now, finally, in 2160, can i scale some things up if i want to, and i sometimes do by, like, 1.25x or so? so i don't always get quite quadruple the real estate, but ~3.2x is still freaking nice, but i don't even feel the need to scale everything. i can move up and look closer at a picture and it's like looking at a photo print!

gut prognostication, uspol, drug laws, dubious vibes

note that none of this would be about the weed at all, it wouldn't even be much about the money, and it reaches far beyond anything to do with drugs

gut prognostication, uspol, drug laws, dubious vibes

the problem is, the fed drug law isn't constitutional, but in that case as presented to them, the supreme court somehow ruled that a terrifyingly carte blanche interpretation of the interstate commerce clause was hunky dory, and that if it might be unconstitutional, then oh well, it's the legislative's job to fix their own mistake. so according to the checks and balances, the states and their licensees are big fat juicy criminals.

this is stupid and i hope the feasibility dies before it ever even looks likely

first the feds come down hard on all these weed shenanigans; massive crack downs on legal states, use their licensing info for bust lists, "tough on crime" harsh trials/sentencing. the pendulum swing applies in force, bad times for lovers of the herb and some bodily and neurochemical autonomy. it plays out socio-econo-political roles before a "gracious" reschedule and modest-potency high-sin-tax production is licensed to 3 national distributors

and "I don't have a new coil to try, I can't get one anywhere. I already tried to buy replacements for the future, but everyone is out of stock. "
became "I don't have any new coils to try and I can't find them anywhere. I have tried to buy
spare parts for the future, but they are all sold out."
which, is that actually better than how i phrased it, maybe??
